Behind the Scenes of Quickles
Born in Devon. Made for sharing.
Here in the heart of Devon, we believe some of life's greatest pleasures are also the simplest. A proper cup of tea, a warm scone with a generous spoonful of jam, a delicious cheeseboard, or a thoughtfully chosen gift that makes somebody's day.
At Quickles, we're bringing those little pleasures together in one place.
From our own range of delicious preserves to carefully selected artisan cheeses, loose-leaf teas and beautifully presented gifts, we're creating a modern take on the traditional British tea room — delivered straight to your door.
We're proud of our Devon roots, but our love of great food doesn't stop at the county border. We believe exceptional products deserve to be discovered, wherever they're made.
Meet Matthew, Founder of Quickles
Quickles was founded by Matthew Baker, a Devon farmer, food producer and someone who's never been particularly good at sitting still when there's a new idea to explore.
Having spent years building Ambrose Farm, working with food, attending farmers' markets and meeting customers face-to-face, Matthew developed a real appreciation for the people and passion behind independent British food businesses.
But he also noticed something.
Finding delicious food and putting together a thoughtful gift shouldn't have to be complicated.
Why visit five different shops when you could discover your favourite tea, choose a delicious cheese, add a jar of chutney and create something special all in one place?
And so, Quickles began to take shape.
What started with preserves has grown into a bigger ambition: to create an online destination for delicious food, thoughtful gifting and those everyday moments worth enjoying.
A Little More Than Jam
We love a good jar of jam. In fact, we love preserves so much that we decided to make our own.
But Quickles is about more than what's inside a jar.
It's about discovering a new favourite tea, finding the perfect chutney for your cheeseboard, treating somebody to a surprise delivery or simply making an ordinary afternoon feel a little more special.
We're combining our own creations with carefully selected products from independent makers, building a collection that celebrates flavour, quality and a little indulgence.
And because everyone has different tastes, we want to make gifting personal, with the freedom to choose the things you know somebody will love.
Small Beginnings. Big Ambitions.
We're not a huge company with enormous warehouses and hundreds of employees.
We're an independent Devon business with a genuine love of good food, a growing collection of products and plenty of ideas for the future.
We're building Quickles one product, one customer and one carefully packed order at a time.
Our ambition is simple: to become a place people return to, whether they're looking for a birthday gift, a special treat, or something delicious to enjoy with a cup of tea.
And Finally… The Great Cream Tea Debate
Being from Devon, we couldn't possibly introduce ourselves without mentioning one very important subject.
Cream first. Jam second.
We appreciate our Cornish neighbours may disagree, but some traditions are worth defending.
Of course, whichever way you enjoy yours, we'll happily provide the jam.
Welcome to Quickles. A little taste of something lovely.
